SuperWalk for Parkinson's 2002 New Record!

TORONTO, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - Throughout September
sixty-four communities across Canada took part in
the Annual SuperWalk for Parkinson's 2002 raising
a record amount of close to 1.2 million dollars
to benefit those living with Parkinson's, their families
and caregivers.

This year we opened 8 new sites with walks taking place
from one coast of Canada to the other!

This amount represents an impressive 28% increase
over last year's final total.

SuperWalk 2002 was an outstanding success due to
the spirited involvement of committed individuals
and teams who answered our national team challenge.

The Society gratefully acknowledges the support
of our Diamond Sponsor National Bank of Canada,
its many generous corporate partners and
SuperWalk 2002, Honourary Chair Vicki Gabereau.

"The outstanding success of SuperWalk 2002
will enable Parkinson Society Canada and its regional
partners to continue their roles within the
Parkinson's community.

We are so close to a cure that every dollar raised
is crucial in enabling us to reach this inevitable goal,"
said National Executive Director Mary Jardine.

"Our sincere thanks to all our caring supporters."

Monies raised from this national event will be directed
to local support services and the funding of research
projects.
