According to the study results that I read, the people on 600 mg/day did
significantly worse than the people on 300 mg/day.  Also, they did much
worse than the people on 1200 mg/day.  The people on 600 mg/day did only
very very slightly better than the placebo group, certainly not enough
to justify the expense, in my opinion.

Also, bear in mind that these 80 people were on no medication.  If a
participant's performance on UPDRS declined to the point where he or she
needed Sinemet, that person was kicked out of the study altogether.  So,
the only people who made it through were those not requiring Sinemet the
entire time.

I think these results are very preliminary and people shouldn't make
decisions without complete information.
