Subject: Stem Cell Research Needs Your Vote On November 5th

Senate Candidates Who Strongly Support Stem Cell Research Need Your Help!
To those of us who suffer from illnesses such as juvenile diabetes,
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, spinal cord injury, and to our families and
friends,

Each of the following candidates for the U.S. Senate:

  Senator Jean Carnahan in Missouri
  Senator Tom Harkin in Iowa
Senator Tim Johnson in South Dakota
Governor Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire
strongly supports humane embryonic stem cell research, which has the
potential to save millions of lives.
Their opponents in these close Senatorial races oppose this research, and
favor the imposition of criminal punishments upon scientists and patients
who seek cures for these illnesses that affect our loved ones or ourselves.

Jean Carnahan, Tom Harkin, Tim Johnson, and Jeanne Shaheen advocate that
embryonic stem cell research be allowed to proceed under vigilant ethical
safeguards. If their four Senate seats are lost in November, we may also
lose the slim Senate majority that has advanced the cause of embryonic stem
cell research. Without the votes on November 5th of all those who care and
depend on the hope of this research, we may wake up on November 6th to see
scientific progress in our country halted or even rolled back.

We all need to get the word out that these four candidates will be effective
advocates in the U.S. Senate on behalf of patients and their families.
Please inform everyone you know who lives in Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota,
or New Hampshire that voting for these candidates will help to protect and
advance humane, life-saving biomedical research.
