Ya'll But this is a good thing.....perhaps the voice of one shall raise to a voice of many...this is a start that we need to begin with. One letter may not get the response that she would want but MANY and MANY letters telling our stories will get the recognition that all of the Parkinson's and related diseases community needs. Yes, Janet Reno is a Parkie, but she has to downplay the seriousness of her disease due the pregidious nature of state and national politics....would YOU, honestly, vote for a person that in mid-sentence , stumbled for the next word, or could represent absolute confidence? Would you have a doctor that had to excuse himself from the room to avoid embarrassing himself by his symptoms appearing faster than he would like. We have a built-in, learned image of what we expect from people in authoritative positions and/or civic leaders. Its time to change the country's and the world's perception of disabled people, not one of pity or grief, but one of compassion and understanding. Educate the masses, and inform the ignorant, don't hide because we are different and not like others. The best way to begin is a mass letter writing to all of the talk show host and then. in mass, will this perception change. Dear donahue writer: I've done a little writing and I know you have to be concise and terse when submitting a manuscript after you get their permission to send it.
