my husband used a "bed assist" for years, even before his PD required it.
They came in pairs at the medical supply store...each slides between the bed
and mattress with no assembly or screws etc and stays put. we put one up next
to his pillow and another down toward his feet along the sides. there was
room to get out between but each was a mini rail to be used to pull yourself
up or slowly let yourself down. they were invaluable and many others around
here have since bought some and are happily getting up and down with them, or
at least more easily..though the rope is a terrific idea...try a terry cloth
bathrobe belt..someone suggested it here.
