There is another sweetner called "Splenda", made from sugar. Its new to me,
and from what I have read; appears safe. You can cook with it, and recipes
and uses, and press releases are found on their site:
 http://www.splenda.com/

The way it is made from sugar is pretty neat(molecular alteration so it does
not get absorbed in the body?), but in my book it has not stood the "test"
of time.
BUT, if I were to use a sweetener, this would be the one.
Good explanations are listed on this site:
http://www.lowcarb.ca/tips/tips006.html

My approach is simple, and that is to cut the sweets to zero, no sodas
(there is no health benefit!) No white flour, or enriched flour, or sugar
or sweetners.
Now I do like a real cold beer (the way they make beer is pretty disgusting,
eh?)
