Dear Louis, Your local community action group may be able to help you with a wheelchair of course you must qualify. Crutches are usually hard on the armpits after a while. Try Canadian Crutches. Those are the kind that clamp to your arm like the gal on ER. They work pretty well and offer good control. Also a service dog may help steady you when you walk particularly up and down stairs and doubles as a loyal friend. You can train your own dog to do this but it needs to be calm and well house broken to go out in public. It also should have a strong back and tall enough so with the addition of a support harness you dont have to lean over so you can maintain balance better. This is what I usually use.
