Ray, others, Yes, I understood what you were looking into, and I'd love to hear more when you know more about the shared housing program. But just as another possibility for you or others, I was suggesting something quite different. I wondered what you and other list members thought of this concept--though it's hardly original: If you had a spare room or could get a place with a spare room, you might find someone who is, say, retired or semiretired who has experience in caregiving/nursing and housekeeping to care for you in exchange for low rent or no rent. You would still be the principal tenant/owner and in control, you would get most of the attention you need from this live in caregiver/roommate, and you might get some rental income, rather than going bankrupt. You might also have someone come in twice a week to do what else was needed. Make sense? Or am I dreaming? I just got papers in, so haven't interviewed anyone yet. I have fears and trepidations re this, but Spike and I are a great match, so it is possible, altho I haven't had a roommate since post-grad college days. Don't want to do it, but other in home help will eventually bankrupt me. I'll post more as I find out more info.
