This is not to be fooled with. Recently my wife was bothered by this. It is called edema or fluid retention. It can be treated by a few things your doctor may recommend. It was caused by Seroquel a neuroleptic drug. Please note some PD patients may be very susceptible to a condition called NMS (Neuroleptic Malignancy Syndrome) which is the result of a build up of enzymes in the body. This can cause muscular degeneration and Kidney failure. This is also caused by the neuroleptic drugs. If she is taken off one drug and put on another neuroleptic please watch for any PD changes and consult your MD right away. Balancing the right drugs is an art as much as a science. Some are better artists than others. All just provide the best guess. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DaRosa, Kim" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 9:32 AM Subject: Swollen Legs > My mom's legs (upper leg) have become swollen over the past couple of weeks. > So much so that it makes it hard for her to do physical therapy which she > needs desperately.
