Recently I have spoken to several PWP who had complaints about the results of their single medication therapy. I originally posted this elsewhere, but thought others with PD might find it helpful.
Diagnosed with PD in 1993, age now almost 52

I take Sinemet 200-50CR, five tablets daily. I also take a 1 mg Ropinirole (Requip) with each Sinemet. That is a low dose of Ropinirole, but it speeds up the effect of my medications. (I also take Selegiline and Amantadine twice per day. Non prescription but with my Dr's knowledge, I take CO Q-10 100mg x 2, NADH 5 mg, SAM-e 200mg X2, and David Perlmutter MD's "brainsustain" dietary supplement.

Under my Dr's supervision, I had to try several combinations of meds before I found what worked best for me. My mornings start with me feeling awful, but usually I'm doing ok by mid-morning. I have found sitting back in a Lazy-Boy around 3:00 PM for meditation/prayer helpful. If I need a nap, I'll doze off then. Taking a Sinemet CR about half an hour before going to bed at night helps me sleep through the night 6-7 hours. If I am moving very slow and stiff at night, I will also take a Ropinirole before going to bed.

Occasionally I have trouble sleeping. I use Children's Benadryl as a sleep aid then. But I have found that if I use it more than 3 days in a row, I start getting Benadryl hangovers.

Hope this info helps you. Best wishes,
Charley
