<http://skins.hotbar.com/skins/mailskins/st/071402/071402valove_1.gif> I sent this on to John not that he can qualify living in another country, but it may give him some hope that what ever this study shows will benefit him. He has had the dx longer than 5 years too, but definitely is a Yop. I read what happened to you today at the bank. Lucky I wasn't with you or you wouldn't have stood in line that long, but you might have been embarrassed when I would insist on seeing the manager on your behalf. At my credit union those who are disabled go to the head of the line and no one makes any fuss. It is ridiculous to have given you the run around that you described too. How could you have an account there and they were able to send your checks through without a number, yet when you needed to cash one it became important? I have noticed that even my CU isnt adverse to depositing a check, but is very careful in having picture ID to take money out. It is rare as I usually use the cash machine and seldom go inside.. I told John some of what happened to you and the observations you made. He does understand your complaint as he sent money to the US yesterday to an account set up through National Bank of Omaha. He thought it was where it would be after leaving a clearing company as part of an international transfer policy. He had no confirmation that it had arrived and he had been advised by the brokerage he planned to use to invest in derivatives that it may be rejected by the bank. Needless to say it was quite a lot of money as he intended to invest this week in Msft contracts. He gave me all of the information he had to call them to ask if they had received the transfer. He really trusts me Edith when few would offer this kind of private financial information at all. I was touched beyond words knowing this. Yes, I was a way to get the issue settled if possible, and I said to him **you owe me *** LOL.. I called the number that he had for the receiving company-- not the bank. It rang busy. I told him this was very strange during working hours. They had no website, but were listed among the other clearing companies. Next I called the bank in Omaha not knowing which number fitted his questions and settled on the general one. She tried to help, but he has no American soc security number which they all use to access accounts (I guess) This area of his account was left blank to be filled in by them using some ?? numbers. The bank thought he was with ameritrade and gave me the number to call. They didn't have his account number and suggested that he wasn't a client of theirs. They too were quite nice and helpful, but no none of the list things John had given me were of any help. Then back to the bank! John gave me everything he had including the branch bank in SA, the clerk's name her number, the time, etc etc lol.. Again a new person at the bank and this time they told me what all the numbers and letters etc he had given me meant as tracking number etc. By this time I was beginning to understand why they had no access to find what he needed. The money went through it as the transferring bank to the clearing company who would hold it for the broker to be used at Johns discretion. Again the clearing company with no email address, no phone, or website listing. I said to him, you have the choices of either calling your bank and making them send a trace to see where it was or you can call Option Express, the broker, and ask them why you couldn't contact the *holding* company? By then John was in a direct online chat with Options Express asking them where the heck was his money? The answer is to be patient; it will be Thursday or Friday before the transfer is complete. It was a relief for him and gave him a few days to look ahead and hope msft price didn't change too much. This has been a long story, but points out how the banking industry can give you partial information and yet still assume you know and that it is ok. The banks in Oz (he feels) are not very customer oriented and seem to take their time to do the business that we take for granted. The draft I made out to *sally* went out to where ever the same day by 4 pm. They do not have the hours available to customers that ours do :)He seems to have a lot of criticism concerning the way his country operates and isnt afraid to voice it which makes me laugh:) You mentioned Rob is he your son? I should remember why this name seems familiar, but I don't. No matter who he is, the fact that you are being treated royally is exactly what you deserve. I think you above all others I know should have this as a given. Btw I wrote Bunny the other night after thinking how I would answer her last note to me. She said she had sent you a copy of the same email in which she tells us not to panic. I wont do that again (well not until the next time ) :) I do wonder what will happen to her especially as she said she hadn't * notified* Sharon yet. I thought that a strange way to put this if she expected her daughter to help. After what she wrote before Thanksgiving, I don't feel her daughter is someone who will welcome her with open arms. This leaves only the son who has put his credit reputation and money on the line. You know what I do, I am sure, so it isnt any news. I couldn't turn my back on her especially now. I want to thank you for the wise advice you gave me in her case. Even if Juanita and my reservations are true, it doesn't change the fact that she will soon be adrift. And, if what you say and I believe, her house (not her home )represents who she is and how she feels, I know she will need all of the support that we can give. With this I am going to shut my mouth and go to bed early for a change. I will write more later my friend...
