I was flown to the NIH for the study a couple of weeks ago. Here's what I suggest to make it as useful as possible: 1. Fill out the forms as completely as you can before hand and keep a copy. It's a fair amount of information and you'll be surprised at what you think of later. You'll have a record and know what extra information to send in. 2. The organization is top notch, I was well impressed. By all means have the travel organizer do his thing for you, that part couldn't have gone any better. 3. I spent the night before just jotting down notes on family history, environmental points (where we lived, who was born where, etc. It turned out to be of great interest that my father spent time in Guam during WWII. Who would have known?) that might have impact (toxic exposure at work for the parents, exposure to pesticides in the surrounding country, any of that sort of thing.) and left that with the doc. She was glad to have the information. 4. Pump your elders for information about your ancestors. Family stories of tics, palsy, etc. Good luck and safe travel.
