Thanks for that information Margie. Many women have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
and it is very controllable using synthetic hormones. The Encephalopathy
piece of this is something quite different and rare. Estimates range for 15
to 30 case in the USA. It is also very often misdiagnosed. All that have
the Enchephalopathy will have the Thyroiditis but only on rare occasions
does the Enchephalopathy occur. It seems to be controlled by steroids.
They are no picnic either.

Our search is to find any other PD patients that may also have the
Encephalopathy and compare treatment protocols. A secondary reason for this
posting is to raise awareness of this condition in any patients that have
the Thyroid condition and also have PD. Any patient that has both should
make their neurologist aware of this possibility. Be especially aware of a
quick onset and worsening of PD symptoms if you have Thyrdoidtis and PD. It
is an indicator that you may have the other condition. Seeking a quick and
accurate diagnosis will be a life saver.
