I am forwarding the following announcement from Paula Wittekind (GrassRoots Connection editor) about a unique Internet radio program on Parkinson's Disease, hosted by Take Charge! Cure Parkinson's . Your input is requested for the next show on Wed. April 16th. Linda ----------------------------------------------- YOU ARE INVITED TO BE HEARD.... April 12, 2003 Take Charge! Cure Parkinson's, Inc., with founding director, Alison Landes, Maria James, and Fran Landes, held Part 1 of their radio show on the 6th annual World Parkinson's Disease Day, Friday, April 11th. April is Parkinson's Awareness Month. After introducing this organization and the people who are working for it, TCCP presented interviews with Morton Kondracke, FOX News Commentator and executive editor of Roll Call, whose wife, Millie, suffers with the illness and Lonnie Ali, wife of Mohammed Ali. Part 2 of this unique program will be broadcast live on Wednesday, April 16th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. (Florida). People anywhere in the world can tune-in by going to www.WNNHealthTalkRadio.com and clicking on LISTEN-LIVE. Check a time zone map beforehand if you're not sure of the time difference between Florida, USA and your location. Once again, there will be lots of good listening as they tell about more of their upcoming events, including a traveling Art-Poetry Exhibit by and about people with Parkinson's which will be hosted by individuals and groups across the United States (see details on their site), 'With Parkinson's Don't Order The Soup', their upcoming Take Charge with Tulips ~ Plant a Garden of Hope campaign, and the expansion of their website. More interesting interviews will be broadcast with former Attorney General Janet Reno, Dr. Diane Murphy of the National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke (NINDS) at NIH, and Tom Berdine, founder of Young Onset Parkinson's Association. TCCP is also calling for your participation in this show. If you, a PWP or Caregiver, were going to be on the radio show and had 2 minutes or 250 words, what message would you most want to get out to listeners? TCCP is asking for the PD community to write these individual messages (remember - 250 word limit) and send them to [log in to unmask] Two or three of the messages will be read on the air. All messages will be posted on the TCCP web site along with the radio program interview. Photos of people interviewed on the program will be included, and TCCP will also post your picture with your message if you would like to include one. Assuming the audience includes a variety of people involved with Parkinson's, as well as people interested in non-profit "Good Work" in the community who tune in regularly to the program, Alison would like to convey what is most pressing from those who have it, live with it, or try to solve it. The show will be rebroadcast on the internet. TCCP would like to utilize the time on the air as effectively as possible. They hope to hear from you! DEADLINE: TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 15th. WHAT TO WRITE: In 250 words or less, a message you would most want listeners to hear about Parkinson's.
