Our department has just been reviewed. The Dean of Arts contributes the
following to the discussion of our future:

There is an untested assumption ... that it is only possible to teach
writing in small classes; yet no work seems to have been done that tests
the outcome of this teaching method.

I would be so grateful for chapter and verse on as many such tests of
"this method" as you have accumulated over the years. (At present we hold
writing sections at 30, require eight assignments, revised at least once,
and a 20% exam.)
