of Toronto at Scarborough invites applications for the position of
Coordinator of its Writing Centre. The Coordinator will be responsible for
developing, coordinating and enhancing all Writing Centre-related
activities, including one-on-one tutoring, supervising and mentoring the
Writing Centre tutors, easing the transition to university writing for
in-coming students, participating in collaborative high school outreach
activities, and assisting the Director of TLS with the implementation of
the writing-related aspects of curriculum enhancement at all levels. The
Coordinator will also be responsible for the TA Support Program involving
the mentoring of graduate and undergraduate TAs in their teaching
activities and professional development.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate the ability to work with faculty as
peers, relate to diverse student audiences, and understand the cultural
context of writing. They will have undertaken writing-related curriculum
development in a variety of disciplines. They will also be familiar with
AccessAbility and English as a Second Language issues sufficient to refer
students appropriately to other campus services. They will have
demonstrated enthusiasm for producing hands-on creative solutions to new

among a diverse and eager student body. They will really enjoy one-on-one
tutoring but should be equally comfortable advocating for writing-related
issues at the campus level. They should have a good knowledge of best
practices and a clear vision both for the role of writing in the curriculum
and the potential role of technology in teaching writing.

This is a full-time academic position at the rank of Lecturer. The
successful candidate will have a teaching assignment in the Division of
Humanities. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the position. University
