hello Murray-i had just recieved a phone call from Carol Walton from the Parkinson Alliance giving me the heads up about the article that you sent in about The Michael J Fox foundation giving a grant to Dr. Paul Carvey. i cannot tell you how happy this makes me...#1- because the man is brilliant and a heck of a great guy (i had the pleasure of sitting next to him at lunch when the University of Illinois College of Medicine had him down to lecture on the very subject that he is being given the grant to continue his studies and we were able to bring him to town because of money made from last year's Shake, Rattle & Roll which we donated to Dr. Rick Weber for the purpose of just such seminars) and just to throw in a pitch for this year's event which will include a symposium hosted by PLWP-#2-he will be on our panel for the program Patients as Providers which will be held in Peoria on June 28th and will include Dr. Michael Rezak from the Chicago area (himself a giant in the pd research field) along with Dr. Patrick Tracy and Dr. Jai Kuma. on the following day, we will hold our fundraiser Shake, Rattle & Roll which is presented by our friends at the Parkinson Alliance. for this fundraiser/walk/party we have 3 musical acts (country, bluegrass and jazz), tons of free food and raffles: one will be for a pair of boxing gloves autographed by Mr. Muhammad Ali!!!!!! and another for 1 of 6 baskets-each worth over $500 (all donated by area businesses). if anyone would like more info about the event, please email me with your snail mail address so that i can send you the details. sorry this letter is a jumble-i'm late for a meeting. always, j -- Joan E.
