Metallica boost for festival

May 24, 2003, 12:43:00

Heavy rockers Metallica have provided a last minute boost for a Bank
Holiday music bash in the Black Country.

The metal outfit has sent a sackload of signed souvenirs to support
the Fill Your Head With Rock event, which kicks off in Willenhall
tomorrow.

The fourth annual festival features 18 live bands over two days at
Gilbert's Club in Field Street, in aid of research into Parkinson's
and related illnesses.

Organiser Pete Boot from Willenhall is the former drummer with 70s
rock band Budgie and was diagnosed as suffering from Parkinson's five
years ago.

He said: "Metallica say their biggest influence was Budgie, and they
have covered a lot of material. They have shipped this lot out from
California and it is absolutely outstanding."

Metallica goodies include drum skins, drumsticks, a Metallica doll, T-
shirts, baseball caps, programmes and a stencil of their forthcoming
CD cover, all signed and dated by the band.

The lots will be auctioned at 7pm, on Bank Holiday Monday, with all
proceeds going to the charity.

Admission to Fill Your Head With Rock is £5 and bands are on stage
from midday
