The HollyRod Foundation benefit will pay tribute to Holly's father,
the late Matthew T. Robinson, Jr.
Altruistic couple, actress and star of the upcoming WB series, Like Family Holly Robinson Peete and Carolina
Panthers Quarterback Rodney Peete announce the return of Mercedes-Benz USA as the title sponsor of the 5th annual
Mercedes-Benz DesignCure, taking place on Saturday, June 28th 2003 at the Pacific Palisades home of honorary chair and
boxing legend "Sugar" Ray Leonard and his wife Bernadette.
Over 300 distinguished guests will attend this invitation-only night under the stars that will include a loving
tribute to Holly's father, the late Matthew T. Robinson, Jr, who was stricken with Parkinson's disease in 1982 at the
young age of 42 and ultimately succumbed to complications from the disease in August 2002. The evening begins with a
reception and silent auction on the grounds of the Leonard estate and moves to the sunken tennis court where the
evening continues with the program and video tribute to Mr. Robinson. Monique Lhuillier will then showcase her 2003
collection in a 12-minute full-scale runway show. The evening will conclude with a once in a lifetime performance from
music icon Stevie Wonder.
Stevie Wonder has been making music and enriching lives for more than four decades. A chronicle of his life is the
history of one of the most remarkable periods of American music culture. In this time-frame he grew from child of
destiny to adult superstar, beloved by millions for his monumental talent, his compassion for humanity and his desire
to challenge injustice.
Monique Lhuillier, the featured designer for the 5th annual Mercedes-Benz DesignCure, had etched her name first
into the bridal industry, and then conquered the eveningwear market by opening her Beverly Hills boutique with her
Spring 2001 Evening Wear Collection. Her famous designs have been featured on Sex and the City, The Oprah Winfrey Show,
Will & Grace, CSI, The Today Show and in an array of music videos.
Proceeds from the 5th annual Mercedes-Benz DesignCure will benefit the HollyRod Foundation, co-founded by the
Peetes to provide financial, physical and emotional support to those with Parkinson's disease through the HollyRod
Compassionate Care Program.
