Hi Jill, I pray for you and your Mom. My Dad had Parkinson's too, and I remember the wake up calls, and how the family and Dad dealt with it. The very best thing I could do was to remind him and show him how much I loved him. Dad and I always said "I love you" to each other. That means more than volumes. As Dad grew more ill, he began to question his significance as a person. That happens as depression looms in and out as it did with Dad. I remember the Thanksgiving of 2000, before he died......when he said "What good am I? What have I done that is worthy?" [he was an awesome man, a very fine physician, meticulous, disciplined, loving, (and very strict!)] I said "Dad, do you see your sons, and your daughter? Do you see all your happy grand children here today?" (the place was in real chaos with everyone there!) "Yes" he said "We are your legacy, Dad, and without you, none of us would be alive and loving each other today..you have led us well, and been our moral compass, and you taught us how to live and give...we are so very thankful" God bless Dad. I just joined yesterday. My name is Jill, I am 35 and I have a mother who is 62 years old and was diagnosed with Parkinson's about five years ago (this is after having beaten thyroid cancer 8 years ago and a subsequent diagnosis of Fybromialgia (sp??) within a year after her surgery to remove her thyroid). I'm hoping to get some great information from you guys and to be part of a community that can offer me some support--sounds like you guys might be good for that. ;-} Up until this last week, my mom had been doing really well. Of course, she'd had her ups and downs, but last week was the first major wake-up call for us. I've cried for five days now. Sorry, I didn't mean to use this forum to whine, just wanted to let everyone know my situation. > > I look forward to participating with everyone. And, since I'm "new" to this, I would appreciate any help (whether I say something wrong, use the wrong terms or just plain make a mistake or if you know something that might help me, I'm always open to suggestions). > > Thanks for reading! > > Take care everyone, > Jill > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] > In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
