This is not quite right.
First, it seems failrly obvious that the economy could not sustain a drain
which exceeds the productive capacity of each person by orders of
magnitude. That is why I started checking the numbers.

So,
one billion is 1000 Million and lets do everything in millions.
4 Billion/month is 48B/year.
Now take the 48,000Million$ and divide it by 300Millionpeople
We get 160Million$ per million people or $160 per person.

To me this result is really an argument for increased spending on Health
issues, drugs coverage, etc., a change in emphasis.

Regarding additional funding for NIH research.
I hope someone who is better at math than I can check this out but,
There are approximately 300 million people living in the US
We are spending slightly over 4 billion dollars a month in Iraq w/o
counting
interest costs on that money or the lives that are being affected there.
According to my math we are spending about $13,500 each month for each of
the 300 million people in this country.
If this is correct then that means we are spending about $162,000 per
American per year for the Iraq adventure alone.
I don't mean for this to be a political message but these numbers, if
correct, really show where our priorities are.----- Original Message -----
