Obey to host health forum this Friday July 30, 2003 Seventh District Congressman Dave Obey will bring a delegation of leading medical experts from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to brief and field questions from area residents on the latest developments in health research this Friday, Aug. 1, at 8:30 a.m. in the conference center of the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, 1900 College Ave, Rice Lake. The forum is free and open to the public. All are invited, but to help planners, please RSVP to (715) 842- 5606. At the forum, NIH scientists will present an overview of the most important findings in recent research on cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, aging issues, arthritis, human genetics, and other areas. The program will also include break-out sessions focusing in-depth on specific topics, allowing participants to attend two rounds of discussion from a choice of five topics. Among those experts expected to attend from NIH are: Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of NM; Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the Human Genome Institute; Dr. Stephen Katz, Director of the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Institute. They will be accompanied by additional NIH scientists who study Alzheimer's, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and disease prevention.
