Hi, This is Paula from PA. I don't know the answer to your question, but I take 7 one mg of Permax daily. I've never had any side effects. In fact my neuro encourages me to take more to aid the sinemet. Twelve years ago I started out with .5, then .25, then 1 mg. The only "problem" I find with Permax is the price - $ 4.57 per pill.
