Tom: Only time liquid sinemet was used for my husband was immediately post
surgery when food/medications by mouth were not feasible. The pharmacist
mixed a liquid version and my husband "absorbed" it via nasogastric tube.
It worked well during those difficult post-surgical days and avoided
potential problems of "no sinemet" for a week - as the surgeon had
originally planned. While I don't know what formula they used, I do know
that NPF has a recipe in their updated booklet on medications. You can visit
their web site at: WWW.Parkinson.org if you are not already familiar with
their resources. I am sure you can get that information on the internet
and/or order the free booklet (a worthwhile thing to have re all PD meds.)
The formula must be made freshly each day; includes sinemet 10/100 or 25/100
(not Sinemet CR), ascorbic acid crystals and tap or distilled water. They
emphasize the importance of consulting your MD for dose specifics -
something you are already doing. Hope it works!

Subject: liquid Sinemet

> My Dr. has suggested due to slow absorption problems, liquifying my
Sinemet. Is anyone using liquid SInemet according to their Dr.'s
instruction. If so how do you keep it in suspension? CR can not be used.
