go to a orthopeadic person --a physician and/or PH.D. diabetic shoes or insoles with combo fabric across top of ur foot and leather new balance or nike atheltic shoe. there are others that are more costly, but these are good brands. New Balance has every width u can think of and more, Medic drug stores in Ohio has stretch fabric diabetic shoes as oppose to leather or non stretch cloth. However, the soles are hard. i have boney feet and need combo hard and lots of shock absorbsion. if u shuffle, then u have different needs. The ortho shoes are generally only covered for diabetics, but make sure it get sent thru the insurance companies anyway. If someone is having custom insoles (full) and shoes covered and is not diabetic let me know what exact insurance coverage u have in America. Harder orthotic or more cushiony (royal blue top layer) type or combo , all different types of materials are used. I don't waste my time trying the cheaper ways because it is cheaper just to go to the doctor get what adaptive equiptment i need and don't want , and then use it:) It maybe nice for that person to have velcro as oppose to ties. Alot easier. i haven't found althetic shoes with velcro. I bought a pair of nikes for 27.50 . They were 110. I don't mind last months or last years color of trim. I stated that for cost comparision not the brand name. nancy m brightline wrote: >>Subject: followup up on problem with toes >>From: "Anonymous" <[log in to unmask]> >>Date: Wed, 05 Nov 2003 10:06:52 -0600 >>X-Message-Number: 16 >> >>Dr.Lieberman: >> >> >>I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to be able to draw on your knowledge >>and experience in a forum such as this- truly, you are building credit in >>the only Place that really counts. >> >>Although I read your answer with interest, I want to be more specific with >>my question- what can I do externally, without taking any more medication >>than I am now-[ I attach my original question ]- any way I can protect my >>toes from any further damage- and also ease th e constant pain i feel? >> >>thanks, >> >>rani ramaswamy >> >> >>I have had PD for 13 years, had dbs in 2001 for rt side only- doing >>reasonably well- have problems with the toes in left foot- my 3rd and 4th >>toes curl inwards and have calluses - but recently they have become very >>painful- i dont see this problem addressed anywehere - please let me know >>whom i should consult with- i went to a podiatrist - he was not very >>effective? >> >>comment >> if what you have is a dystonia of the toes then perhaps you should speak to the surgeon about re-programming the device >> be certain the curling is related to dystonia in some people the curling is related to damage to the nerves to the legs the damage is in the back >>---------------------------------------------------------------------- >> >> > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
