Railyn
One of the things we need to remember when filing for disability is not "how
bad we are," but "how bad we can be," and how often we are that way. For
example, I can appear at times completely normal (except I use a cane and
walk funny). At other times ("off" time), I am a near complete invalid!
They will want to know how often this occurs and how disabling it is.

I am sure your doctor used about the same language in filling out forms as
he/she did initially, but somewhere in the reporting your information was
weighted more heavily toward disability. There are a myriad of factors they
are in search of when you apply - there's no textbook definition. Your age,
education, work experience, and (of course) your documentation helps to move
things along.

I hate like everything that people (deserving people) have to suffer through
rejection and appeals. If one of those SSDI employees could only live in
our places for one week, then they would know! You have to make sure that
you paint a picture with words as to what you put up with daily.

I have chosen not to publish the 20 tips here until I see if APDA has
copyright claims. Keep sending me a personal email address and I will
gladly send you a copy.

And Rayilyn, I must have a different type of state retirement program. We
draw full retirement based on our top 5 years of employment, plus the Social
Security. (Thank goodness!) But it's still a long way from being what I
made before retirement.

Today is a gift..That's why it's called the present!
