HAWAII: Doctors to offer expertise in rehab Star-Bulletin staff Thursday, November 27, 2003 American and Japanese experts in rehabilitation will provide education and training for medical and clinical personnel Dec. 8-12 at Rehab Hospital and other Oahu health facilities. The first Morita Distinguished Fellows Program will feature Dr. David Good, a neurorehabilitationist from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University; and Dr. Shoichi Tsuchida, neurosurgeon and president of Tsurumakionsen Hospital in Kanagawa, Japan. They will provide training at the Queen's Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, Veterans Administration Hospital and University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine, as well as Rehab Hospital. The program is aimed at those who care for patients with such diseases as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and neurological malignancies. Good and Tsuchida will make rounds with hospital personnel and hold small group sessions. The program is named for Sony founder Akio Morita, who received treatment at Rehab Hospital and became a major supporter of its programs.
