The doctor may be looking for something other than Parkinson's.  There is a
condition, called "normal pressure hydrocephalus" which can present in a
fashion similar to PD and which responds to a surgical procedure (shunt).

One should always ask a doctor why a certain test is being recommended, but
"tossing out" the possibility of such is, in my opinion, not good advice.
