Dear Jim,
My husband also had phlegm which was quite difficult, as they can not cough
it up. I purchased a small suction machine, as the phlegm collected he was
able to suction his mouth out. As he progressed with his condition I did it
for him, it helped him tremendously.

Also, a speech language pathologist assessment is very useful. They will
determine their present ability to swallow and make the necessary
recommendations.

It is important, the person with Parkinson's has the ability to always
communicate their needs. A speech pathologist will provide exercises to
giver them the ability to continue to speak and be part of the conversation.
This is key for everyone involved in their care.

Hope this is helpful, Take Care.
