Hi, folks. We're really behind on this one, but there's talk of developing
policies surrounding the use of course management systems here. And so I
was wondering if any of your institutions have policies you'd be willing to
share. I'm looking for policies that address questions like:

Is use of a particular CMS required? Is use of nonsupported CMSes not
allowed?

How long are previous semesters' classes archived? How long do instructors
and students have routine access to them?

Who is allowed access to a particular course space? Eg: Students and
instructors? Proxies for the instructor? Departmental secretaries?
Administrators, such as deans?

Who can copy and use material from a course space? Can faculty copy
students' work to use in their research? If students retain exclusive
right to their work, how is that right ensured/enforced?

If your institution builds its own CMS, is there a regular development
cycle? How are feature requests prioritized, ie, who decides what features
get developed? If you buy a CMS, who decides how and when new
features/upgrades get rolled out?

Thanks for any help you can give,

Marcy
