Henslowe's Diary (recently reissued by Cambridge) would be a good place
to start. I would also recommend Ann Rosalind Jones and Peter
Stallybrass's _Clothing and the Materials of Memory_ as a guide into the
Henslowe material as a key to the questions your student is asking.

Hi. I have a student (highly motivated undergraduate) who is
interested in finding out about the theatre as a commercial enterprise
during the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. He's especially
interested in marketing questions: how were productions and
theatres advertised, what kind of competitive forces affected prices, who
made money and how, and so on.
He's looked for books and articles but hasn't found much (which may be
because neither he nor I are using correct keywords in this
instance).
Does anyone know of any good sources of information for this research
question?
Thanks.
