What you are probably observing is what somebody a long time ago called the "sleep benefit". I had observed that Carline was doing better in the morning, after getting up. Then as the day progressed she got more stiff and slow. When I inquired here on the forum it was attributed to the "sleep benefit". Now the situation has changed, after about 10Y of PD. Now when she gets up she is stiff and needs to loosen up with the aid of some stretching exercises which I give to her. She tends to be least stiff in the evening, before going to bed, but the difference is small. So, as far as your medications go, it sounds like they must be calibrated more carefully, especially to avoid overmedication which may the case with your father. Sometimes the balance between enough and excess medication is very narrow and the meds need to be adjusted very carefully. A drug holiday is likely not the answer. K. F.
