Hello,

My Father has had Parkinson's for 8 years now. Almost from the start
he has been on Bromocriptine and Siminet. From time to time his Neuro
has tried other medications (Requip, Comtan) with very negative
results. In the end my Father is worse off after having had tried the
new medication then he was before.

Recently the side effects of the Bromocriptine & Siminet have
worsened. In fact my Father seems to be better of in the morning before
taking his first dosage. In the morning he has difficulty walking but
can do so extremely slowly without ever falling, in addition his facial
expressions, speech and upper body movement are much better in morning.
As the day progresses and he takes more medication for a brief period
he may experience some improvement walking but as the day goes on he
experience more freezing and a great deal of involuntary movement to
the point were he will fall down quite often and has a hard time doing
just about everything.

So basically without medication he has problems walking but can do
everything else reasonably well and with medication he can walk
slightly better for perhaps 1 hour a day but after that it's down hill
from there, significantly.

Does this sound like something that could be helped with a medication
vacation?

I am concerned that his neuro will simply suggest increasing his
medication and I'm quite positive that will make things worse.

        I would appreciate any suggestions.

        Thank you.

        Roberto Correia
