Dear Pat, I was Supervisor of the Writing Centre at the Univ. of New Brunswick, Saint John for a number of years and am now retired. I worked hard to have my position changed from administrative professional to academic, for all the reasons Margaret explained, but was unsuccessful. I would say that it would be advantageous to have this changed now, as you begin your work, before you get locked into the other type of appointment. I agree completely with Margaret's analysis.
