Mary Ann,
Depending on the locality the business is incorporated in the state. Usually the Secretary of State's Office. Attorney General's Office is the source of fraud information. Better Business Bureau will have some information if they blatant. If there is Consumer Group ( Indianapolis has Angie's List ) Also a Unified Neighbors operation that rates business service etc. If they are legitimate they belong to a trade group. Try the group name in a search. See what that produces and who else belongs in the area. They should be selling branded merchandise. It's not hard to locate manufacturers of any reasonable size on the net.

I believe that there are "gray area" Medicare vendors who work the system for all it's worth. Not quite illegal but close. They know the rules and how to use them to their advantage. Good Luck!

  Subject: Checking out Medicare vendors

Does anyone know how to check out a Medicare vendor to see if their business is legitimate? The particular business that I'm concerned about sells medical equipment.
