Can anyone help me with ideas? I have the early stages of Parkinson's (I'm
64, diagnosed 2002 and now taking madopar (prolopa) and ropinirole (requip))
and have suffered a considerable amount of abdominal pain. It is difficult
to describe the pain - it affects my whole tummy area and feels as though my
nerves are getting pulled with increasing ferocity as it gets steadily
worse. I find that it is worse when I sit down or lie down, but after a
certain time of lying down it gradually relaxes. It is worse in the morning
than the evening. My other symptoms are a runny right eye and feeling very
dizzy - especially in the mornings, and also my feet seem to get affected by
the pain as it increases and they become very hot and uncomfortable. I also
get the occasional stiff back and neck etc which is usual in Parkinson's and
nothing in comparison with the abdominal pain. The dizziness and the pain in
abdomen and feet all started before I was diagnosed and before any
medication.

It is with me all the time now unless I take zopiclone (imovane) 7.5mg
sleeping pills. At the moment I have one at night and 2 halves during the
day (so I can face a meal). I have found that pain-killing tablets
(cocodamol and coproxamol) each worked a bit for a while but now no longer
work. I've also taken buprenorphine (temgesic), which had no effect, and
fentanyl patches (duragesic), which did but which I had to stop because it
made me very sick.

We have read a report by Robin Fross at
http://www.wpda.org/articles/advn_mng/iod/abdominal_pain.html which
describes almost exactly the pain I feel.

I have been investigated with a barium enema, a colonoscopy, ultrasound and
a CT scan of pelvis and abdomen - all with negative results.

This obviously restricts my life style enormously and makes it impossible
for my husband and me to go out anywhere.

So I wonder if anyone out there has suffered the same type of pain and has
found a way round it. I desperately need a solution - to be free of pain and
get my life back.

I did ask the group about this a year ago, and although several people
answered, none of the replies actually helped me with the problem.
