Many articles have appeared on the new stem cell lines developed by researchers at Harvard. The most powerful statement i've seen was at the end of an article in the Boston Globe. (Harvard researcher to give away stem cells By Gareth Cook, Globe Staff, 3/4/2004), in which the lead researcher, Douglas Melton explained why he is involved in stem cell research: " ...Melton said he has been driven to do the work by his son and daughter, both of whom have diabetes. After his son, Sam, was diagnosed at just 6 months of age, Melton focused his research on finding a cure. That has lead him directly into the world of human embryonic-stem cell research -- and the political maelstrom that surrounds it. "I have only done what any father would do," Melton said." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
