from the Co-Chairs of Team Parkinson:
Dear Friends,
Team Parkinson at the Los Angeles Marathon 2004 was a great success
and we want to thank all of you who participated as athletes,
fundraisers, volunteers, and cheerleaders.
Our three days at the Expo were a lot of fun. We raised awareness
about Parkinson's disease, collected donations and had a number of
people sign up to be included next year. On Saturday afternoon we were
honored to have May May Ali at our booth autographing copies of her
wonderful children's book. She drew quite a crowd with her warmth and
humor and helped Team Parkinson by donating all proceeds from the sale
of the book. It was truly fantastic!
Our carbo-loading dinner on Saturday night was terrific. The company
was great, the food excellent, and the speakers informative and
entertaining. May May graced us again with her presence and signed
books and took pictures with many of the guests. Aaron and Harriet
Moretzsky were our Grand Prize winners and raised almost $20,000!
Race day was HOT! What a scorcher! But all our athletes are OK even
though it was a very difficult run. All of our participants with
Parkinson's disease finished and we're so very proud of them.
As last year, we welcome you to share your personal story of this
weekend with us so that we can post it on our webpage for others to
read.
There will be a full report and photographs available online very
soon. We'll keep you posted on that.
As of this writing, we've raised just over $120,000 and
counting! Please remember that donations are welcome until the end of
June.
Thank you all again so much for all your support. Our hope is that
some day soon we can e-mail you all that a cure has been found and
that Team Parkinson is part of the legacy that made it happen.
