Two new interviews on the GrassRoots Connection - Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) recently responded to GRC's questions about upcoming research funding issues that are important to those in the PD and other related communities. Sen. He has consistently supported Federal programs that provide for biomedical research and has introduced legislation that would substantially increase NIH (National Institutes of Health) funding. (see previous message on his NIH funding amendment) . GRC asked Sen. Specter to comment about upcoming stem cell research issues and funding - Dr. Ole Isacson , Director of the Neuroregeneration Center at McLean Hospital / Harvard Un. , is hoping to enter the "final stretch" in developing stem cell therapy for Parkinson's patients. GRC asked Dr. Ole Isacson, who has been conducting research on regenerative therapies for Parkinson's Disease for many years, some questions about the impact of advances in stem cell research and the availability of new stem cell lines developed at Harvard on his work . see: www.grassrootsconnection.com Linda ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
