Yes Maryse, that is a hard call. For me it's, hard for you it seems quite clear. My problem is where that line is. "The line of life", lets call it for lack of a better name. If 5 days is OK then when is it not OK. You also bring up that other point that is troublesome to many, "the purpose of invitro fertilization." If the valid purpose is for fertility then perhaps one could argue these embryo's should not be used. Once you start using them, the products of invitro are no longer for fertility they are dual purpose. That being the case people could argue that you should not fertilize eggs to produce human organs for harvest, remember humane skin is considered an organ. Now we could argue that a person using this service would have a choice. If that were the case it could still be argued that a person making that choice would be fertilizing some eggs to produce human organs for transplant and others for fertility. I understand you only need a small section of liver to function, how small is an organ? In the case of skin one cell is still a part of an organ. I am sure skin replacements would be one of the uses for these stem cells, perhaps the first. I know this seem to take it to an extreme, I apologize. I am just offering up food for thought. Frank cg.
