Yes, Diane, I lost my sense of smell some time (several years?) before I
was diagnosed with this challenge.  At the time neither I nor my GP made
any connection to PD,  It was just a sometime blessing, sometime
inconvenience. at least in my mind.  Since then my neuro has pretty much
downplayed the importance  of  loss of smell as an ongoing indicator.
Occasionally some scents, usually in the citrus region, get through like a
misty memory and, like the memory, vanish when approached.
