STUDY: Clozapine Controls Levodopa-Induced Dyskinesia (LID).
In patients with severe PD, low-dose clozapine, an antipsychotic drug, reduced involuntary movements by around 50%.
(Friday, 26 March 2004)

At five hospitals in France, 50 patients with severe PD participated in the 10-week clinical trial. Neither patients,
nor research staff knew which participants (25) received the experimental treatment (clozapine, 39,4 mg on average) or
placebo once-daily (25).

The maximal LID score at rest was significantly decreased under clozapine treatment. Three patients in the clozapine
group developed reversible eosinophilia.
