UK: Boy To Be Parkinson's Poster Face
Friday, 16 April, 2004, 15:19 GMT 16:19 UK

A Gloucestershire teenager is to become the new face of the Parkinson's Disease Society poster.

Robert Duckworth, 16, from Winchcombe, was six-years-old when his mother Sue, 42, was diagnosed with Parkinson's.

He started what has become a major fundraising effort with his school friends, which has now provided a specialist
nurse for the county.

The society is aiming to raise its profile with a new awareness campaign to be launched on Monday 19 April.

"When she's well it's fine but when she's ill it's quite tough because we have to give her drugs and help her do stuff
which she'd normally do herself," said Robert.

His efforts have now been recognised by the Parkinson's Disease Society.

Robert added: "I came home from school and mum and dad said I was going to be on the poster which I think is pretty
cool."
