The Illinois Leader is a very conservative Catholic publication. I understand Gov. McGreevy of New Jersey is a Catholic and he has been denied communion by some bishops in NJ. I know that name calling does not win hearts and minds, but I really got them riled up. 1. The poster child for stem cell research must be a child. We old bags are only going to die soon anyway. No one really cares about anybody over 30. 2. We should demand pictures of a blastocyst. When I was in Poland they had very powerful pictures of fetuses in Catholic churches to discourage abortion. 3. We should demand that anti-abortionist,anti-stem cell folks should call for the shutting down of in vitro clinics and establish severe penalties for women who have abortions. or use in vitro fertilization. 4. Anti-abortionists should not be allowed to use the Bible or our Constitution (as one guy did in attacking me) to oppose stem cell research as neither document deals with this issue.
