Subject: Re: Four Wheeled Walkers

Hi All. The response to my request about 4-Wheeled Walkers is a prime
example of how great and indispensable this list ia. The response has led
me to new pathways and new solutions for my pwp. Thank you list. I know
that some persons have become disheartened because of the political
partisanship and the theological attacks on stem cell research, but please
do not leave the list. Instead, make it work.
I have one further question. The U-Step does seem to be optimal.
However I am not sure whether it would work well on gravelled paths or on
hard impacted dirt paths. Does any one have experience on these surfaces.
We have found a store in Santa Monica that carries the U-Step and we shall
go there to check it out. However everything I have heard and read says
that it will be optimal.
Thanks Again. Jules, cg for Doris, 80,10.

what i am concerned about is ur wife's age and diminishing physical strength. pleasee do not take that the wrong way. She sounds like a petite woman who is weakening, yet i am sure a very determined and strong woman. Let her try the models at the store with you only and she will tell you what she wants. make sure u can lift the walker into the trunk of ur car for when u go out.

i find when i walk on packed gravel or brick my wrists and ankles hurt like crazy the next morning. however, the packed gravel and brick surfaces are not even, so i not positive if it is the vibration and/or the varing angles that the ankles and wrists do to accomodate my posture while walking. As for shoes ......custom ensoles (u place ur foot into a styrofoam type material) deep heel cups in the shoes, a mixture of fabric and leather OR all fabric mesh, and laces as far down to the toes as possible will be most comfortable. i have hundreds of shoes so i have tried all of them before giving into my Nikes with the springs. I also have a narrow foot, but get a 1/2 size larger and a medium width due to the insoles. Mainly i walk, sleep, drink , read, and type. i don't sit at home. i lost alot, but my walking is very sacred to me. My vascular system circulates its best when i follow this regimne.
