18 New Research Projects To Receive Parkinson's Disease Society Funding UK 23 Jul 2004 The Parkinson’s Disease Society (PDS) of the UK is delighted to announce that it has committed £1.65million to a total of eighteen new research projects for research into Parkinson’s. The eighteen new projects will explore the following areas: -- Stem cells -- Molecular Biology -- Genetics -- Pharmacology -- Neurology -- Surgery -- Clinical Trials/Epidemiology -- Clinical Psychology -- Health/Social Care For project summaries, please contact the PDS Research department on(UK) 020 7963 9313. Since the PDS was established in 1969, research into all aspects of Parkinson's has been a vital part of the Society's work. Through its research programme, the PDS invests around £2million each year into five key areas - Cause, Prevention, Cure, Progression and Care. The Society also supports the PDS Tissue Bank in London, which acts as a resource for researchers throughout the world. A second call for research grant applications will be made in August 2004.
