AUSTRALIA: Interactive Parkinson's Sessions - Parkinson's Awarness Week

Ararat and Stawell residents will have the chance to take part in an interactive
television program about Parkinson's Disease next week.

Parkinson's Awarness Week is next week and regional Parkinson's support groups
are taking part in the project to help people learn more about the disease.

The program Understanding Parkinson's - The Panel will be transmitted to Ararat
North and Stawell West primary schools next Thursday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

People watching the program will be able to telephone or fax in questions to the
expert panel featured on the program.

Topics such as the latest research in Parkinson's prognosis for the future and the
type of help available will be covered in the one-hour telecast.

Parkinson's Disease is a common but complex chronic, progressive and debilitating
disease which strikes both people young and old.

An extimated 100,000 people are affected by the disease, which causes difficulties
in initiation, co-ordination and control of physical movement.
