Kerry Promises To Ease Health Care Burden On Seniors
September 14, 2004

John Kerry and John Edwards are committed to fighting for America’s seniors by protecting the programs they rely on. The Kerry-Edwards plan will take steps to bring down prescription drug costs, including allowing reimportation from Canada and protect Social Security by fighting privatization that causes benefit cutbacks.

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry says seniors have been squeezed by rising health care costs because of President Bush's failed health care policies.

Kerry pledged to fight for seniors by moving America in a new direction, a direction that protects Medicare and Social Security and also offers seniors relief from rising prescription drug costs.

With drug costs rising faster than the rate of inflation and Medicare premiums going through the roof, Kerry said many seniors have seen their retirement savings eaten up by the greed and corruption of corporate criminals.

“When it comes to our nation’s senior citizens, George W. Bush has made all the wrong choices,” Kerry said.

Kerry promised to put seniors first by strengthening Social Security and Medicare. Medicare "belongs to you," not special interest groups, said Kerry in a prepared statement.

Kerry accused President Bush of standing by and doing nothing as prescription drug costs skyrocket and Medicare premiums undergo the largest hike in history.
