You can call it "stubborn"; I will call it "principled".  Winston Churchill was
stubborn when he said that Hitler was not someone to negotiate with.  Frances
Kelsey was not stubborn when she refused (in spite of pressures) to allow
Thalidomide to be approved by the FDA in the sixties. Remember all of the
pallidotomy stuff on this List (including the commercial enterprises at such
places as "Pallidotomy.com")?   Etc.
