Parcopa Approved by FDA SOURCE: E-Move Thursday, October 7, 2004 _ VOLUME 1 ISSUE 47 The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved the drug Parcopa, an orally dissolving form of levodopa/carbidopa. The drug has the same pharmacological properties as Sinemet (the pill form of levodopa/carbidopa), but is not swallowed and therefore need not be taken with water. Because it enters the brain at the same rate as standard levodopa/carbidops, it requires the same amount of time to alleviate symptoms, and is not indicated as a "rescue" therapy for off episodes.
